Established on February 29 of 1996 by four personnel named Mark Hill, Clive Beddoe, Donald Bell and Tim Morgan, West Jet made an effort to observe the same way of the two most reputed airlines popular as Southwest Airlines and Morris Air. These are the low-cost carrier and the fares of these airlines are very similar to Air Canada Airlines. Actually signified to be a western Canada activity, West Jet gradually counted among the fastest developing airlines in the world. In the year of 2004, on a second partly conference, Clive Beddoe had declared that West Jet would function in the United States. The cities like Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, New York and Orlando were also joined to the new US route network of West Jet.
As of April 2007, the West Jet Airlines consists of aircrafts like Boeing 737-600, Boeing 737-700, Boeing 737-800. The Trans border flights of West Jet fly non-stop from Calgary which is the main hub of West Jet. All the trans border flights of West Jet also depart from Montreal, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, Kelowna and Winnipeg.
