Northwest Airlines is an American airline that has its base at Eagan in the state of Minnesota, United States. The principal hub of the airlines from where it conducts its maximum operations is Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport in the United States. The other major hubs of Northwest Airlines are at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, and Memphis International Airport. Apart from that, the airlines have another hub in Asia at Narita International Airport near Tokyo. Finally Northwest Airlines in cooperation with KLM operates transatlantic flights from Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. The airlines operate direct flight from the city of Las Vegas to the cities of Detroit, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Memphis, Minneapolis-St Paul and seasonal flights to the city of Grand Rapids. That is Northwest Airlines operates flights from McCarran International Airport to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, Memphis International Airport, and Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport.

Northwest Airlines is the only airlines company of US that provides both passenger and cargo services. The regional flights of Northwest Airlines operate under the name Northwest Airlink by Mesaba Airlines, Pinnacle airlines, and Compass Airlines. The frequent flyer program of Northwest Airlines is known as WorldPerks. Established in the year 1926 with the name Northwest Airways, the airlines offered cargo services for the U.S Post Office Department. In the year 1927 the airlines started flying passengers and in the year 1928 the airlines started its first international route to Winnipeg, Canada. During the World War II Northwest like other airlines of United States contributed to carrying military equipment and personnel from continental US to Alaska. In the year 1947, Northwest Airlines became the first airlines to operate flights from US to Japan. From Japan, Northwest Airlines expanded its operations to South Korea, Philippines, and China.
